Lochranza to Lamlash

We slept long and well at Butt Lodge in Lochranza, woke up, and enjoyed a leisurely prep for the day. We ran across these fellows on our walk across the golf course to the bus.

The bus from Lochranza to Lamlash was quite the ride. This island was not shy when it placed roads - oh, let's say "wherever" - and then paved them. We thought we had seen it all when we went down a 15% grade, then there was a 17% grade, then a 20% grade! The roads are single-track, rough and so winding the bus had trouble making the curves.

In addition, there were horses, walkers, baby buggies, bicyclists, buses, trucks and cars of all sorts on the road. It was a roller-coaster obstacle course!

Of course we made it safely. We are now at Lamlash on the east coast of Arran. After checking in to our B&B Lilybank, then grabbing victuals at the Co-Op for tomorrow's Easter hike, we headed out for a lovely 4 mile walk along the shore and nearly up to Dun Fionn. This is a view of Holy Isle in Lamash Bay.

After a lamb burger for me, and fish and chips for Blue, we sat on the village green along the sea. This is Lamlash. We are in the second building from the left behind the bus. The person wearing the red coat in the far distance soon walked up to us with a cheery greeting. She was our tour guide at Arran Distillery yesterday. She caught us drinking a beer. Kind of felt like I was betraying her.

It is very hazy today - perhaps the humidity or sea mist? It created an ethereal view of the harbor without a horizon line.
